This concept was introduced in the LC coupe, refined in the flagship LS sedan and was expanded to the seventh-generation ES. Lexus calls this concept “Seat in Control,” a simple idea that says, from the moment you get in, all the controls you need are within reach and all the information you want is in plain view. In true Lexus fashion, the 2022 ES embraces continuous improvement with human-centered updates to the Lexus Multimedia System and available Navigation System. The standard 8.0-inch and available 12.3-inch color multimedia displays have been moved forward 4.3-inches and now feature touch-screen functionality, in addition to the remote touch interface, for intuitive driver and front passenger interaction.

The Lexus ES 250 AWD sends torque to all four wheels, enabling the 2.5-liter L4 engine to power through conditions when traction is low to allow better acceleration with less tire slip. Dynamic Torque Control AWD assists with providing effective traction for inclement and slippery weather while helping to minimize AWD’s typical drag on fuel economy. The system directs up to 50 percent of engine torque to the rear wheels, in response to acceleration from a start or slippage at the front wheels.

The Dynamic Control Shocks are capable of responding to even the smallest movements thanks to a non-overlapping auxiliary valve that allows damper oil to flow in either direction before entering the main valve. The rear suspension design utilizes a trailing arm and a multilink setup that also benefits from the responsiveness of the Dynamic Control Shocks. Higher placement of the trailing arm mounting point and a larger bushing size assist in dampening road irregularities.
Lexus ES 350 F Sport Handling includes:
When DRCC is set and engaged, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) is designed to provide slight steering force to help steer to the center of the lane to assist the driver with staying in the lane using visible lane markers or a preceding vehicle. LTA alerts the driver with a visual warning and either an audible alert or steering wheel vibration. In the new ES, the lane recognition performance, which makes LTA possible, has been improved with enhanced recognition of line and road edge, lateral G performance, and enhanced control and stability after lane change. With LSS+ 2.5, LTA receives improved course recognition and can track the paths of nearby vehicles in adjacent lanes for greater lane centering capability. Standard features include special noise-reducing 18-inch alloy wheels, auto-braking with rear pedestrian detection, a Panoramic View 360-degree camera monitor, a foot-activated hands-free power trunk lid, a head-up display, and a power rear sunshade. Along with its standard AWD, the ES 250 features the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 suite of driver assists.
Last redesigned for the 2019 model year, the ES is related to the Toyota Camry, sharing that sedan's TNGA-K platform and powertrains. This model has the same features as the ES 350 F Sport Design but with a hybrid drivetrain and minus the Panorama glass roof. The ES 350 F Sport Design includes all the standard and optional equipment on the ES 250 F Sport Design but with a V6 engine and FWD. This model offers the same features as the ES 350 Luxury but with the hybrid drivetrain and minus the Panorama glass roof.
Linear steering, brake responses, and optimized handling with exceptional ride quality is the result of heightened focus on tuning of the chassis and its interactions with the control surfaces through diligent evaluation at a test facility unlike any other. It includes agility-enhancing hardware like an adaptive variable suspension, updated drive modes, a heated F Sport tiller, a black headliner, red or white upholstery, and aluminum pedals. F SPORT Design customers have their choice between Palomino NuLuxe trimmed interior with Open-Pore Brown Walnut trim or Black NuLuxe trimmed interior with Open-Pore Black. F SPORT Handling is available with NuLuxe-trimmed options that include Black and two F SPORT Handling-exclusive colors – Circuit Red and White – all three of which are paired exclusively with Hadori Aluminum trim. The ES 250 Luxury builds off the ES 250, adding the Premium Package contents, including a 14-way power driver’s seat with power seat cushion extension, quilted semi-aniline leather upholstery, and a heated, wood- and leather-trimmed steering wheel. A quick walk around the ES 250’s exterior reveals bi-LED headlights with auto-leveling, LED taillights, heated power side mirrors, a power moonroof, and 17-inch twin-spoke alloy wheels.
All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) can be activated above 30 mph and is designed to perform vehicle-to-vehicle distance controls down to 0 mph and can resume from a stop. DRCC also includes a new feature that allows for smooth overtaking of slower vehicles. LSS 2.5+ adds Curve Speed Reduction, which can automatically reduce vehicle speed, if needed, through certain types of curves. The ES 250 trims employ a 203-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive (AWD).

Wider spacing of the stabilizer bushing mounts can also contribute to overall roll reduction. The 12.3-inch upper screen seamlessly connects you via touchscreen-or your voice-to an Intelligent Assistant that gets smarter over time. The 7-inch lower touchscreen display shows the climate control screen and serves as a driving-support screen for Multi-Terrain Select in order to help create a more comfortable driving experience. In addition to further improving quietness and ride comfort, we pursued linearity in vehicle movement, in response to steering wheel operation, that is faithful to the driver’s intentions,” says Lexus International Chief Engineer Tetsuya Aoki. The Technology Package adds a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 3-year trial to Drive Connect, a 10.2-inch head-up display, and a Smart Access key card. When AWD isn’t needed, the electromagnetic controlled coupling on the rear drive axle disengages the propeller shaft to help prioritize fuel efficiency.
